Henna for Haircare

Coloring your hair can be difficult, especially if you have damaged, brittle, or graying hair. Hair dyes can dry out your hair even more and cause breakage and thinning. Covering gray hair is especially tricky, and requires a lot of maintenance. We have found a great substitute for regular dye. Henna! Henna is an organic, vegan powder made into a paste that works great for coloring hair red, brown, and black, while easily covering gray hairs and restoring moisture, elasticity, and strength.
Though henna is a wonderful dye to use on your hair, it is very hard to lift from hair. If you wish to lighten your hair in the future, you may have to let the hair grown out depending on your hair type and how the dye adheres to it.  Take the same precautions you would with any other hair dye. Since it does stain your skin, clothing, ect, wear gloves when applying dye and avoid contact with skin to prevent stains. Henna does take time to 'develop' so it could be hours before your hair reaches it's darkest point. There are hundreds of brands jumping on the henna train, so as always, do your research into the company and ingredients prior to purchasing their dye. One brand of henna we have personally used that works great is Light Mountain (you can get it right on Amazon).

If you decide to use Henna, we'd love to see your before & after pictures! Feel free to send them to us in an email or by text to (443) 488-4625. If you need to make an appointment for any dermatology needs, give us a call and we'd be happy to schedule one for you!
